You do not need to go to the high street this Christmas to spend money on what the centralised buying department decided should be this seasons mass market seller. Instead try the independents of the jewellery quarter Flux, Design Space and Ornez for individual items designed and made by real people who are passionate about beautiful creative design.
FROST - This touring exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 13th to Saturday 20th Dec in the Design Space studio (unit 2, 25 Hylton St) where it was made by the 18 incubatees of the project. The general public are invited to come and admire the work of these new and ambitious designers.
Jewellery designed and made by participants of the project will continue to be on sales in Artful Expressions on Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter during and after this final leg of the exhibitions tour.
FLUX - The jewellery on show in the Flux exhibit in the School of Jewellery on Vittoria St will not fail to surprise you. It is publicised with large ornate pieces of architecture that are undeniably beautiful but definitely not your everyday wear, however when you go in you find that the most of the exhibit is filled with beautiful wearable and in places surprisingly affordable jewellery. Think of this less as a high concept design show and more of a place to buy christmas presents. The eye catching press pieces are here but are outnumbered by the items you will want to take home.
